Easter in Easton on the Hill, 2022

Saturday, 9 April 2022 09:58

Dear All,

As we embark on Holy week, I just wanted to touch base regarding All Saints Church, Easton on the Hill in the run up to Easter.

Sunday 10th is Palm Sunday and there will be a service in church at 9:00 with the distribution of palm crosses. The Palm is symbolic of Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem the week before He was crucified. The palm cross can then be taken home and kept through the year. These are then burned at the start of Lent next year to provide the ashes for Ash Wednesday.

There will be NO Prayer and a Pint Palm Sunday (This Sunday)

Thursday 14th is Maundy Thursday. This is the day we commemorate the Last Supper where Jesus told us to love one another and then washed the feet of the disciples. This was to demonstrate the loving service for which we aspire. There is a service at King’s Cliffe at 19:30.

Friday 15th is Good Friday. This is when we remember Jesus being put to death on the cross. There will be morning prayer in the church at 9:00. There is a Walk of Witness planned, departing from King’s Cliffe church at 12:00 and arriving at Bulwick in time for the Stations of the Cross service in Bulwick Church at 14:00. Finally, there is a compline (Night prayer) with incense at 20:00 in King’s Cliffe.

Easter Sunday (17th April) is the most important day of the Christian calendar. We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. All are welcome to celebrate. There will be a Service at 10:30 with Rev. Canon Michael Wilson in All Saints.

Whatever you do over the next week and whatever your beliefs, I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

Grace and peace,

Keir
