Curate on the Hill
I hope everyone had a very happy Easter. Whatever your beliefs, it is a season of resurrection and renewal. Nature is showing the way with the changes in weather, the flowering of plants and the growth from sown seeds. In the Church we celebrate the resurrection of Christ from Easter Sunday up until Pentecost Which this year is 5 th June. You might know Pentecost as Whitsun The season of Easter is a time for celebration and joy. It sits in stark contrast to the season of Lent.
I imagine, like me, people in our villages are looking forward to the weather improving getting out and about and socialising more? Also on the horizon is the Jubilee weekend. As the Queen is the Head of the Church of England, it will be another reason to celebrate and rejoice.
There seems to be a bit of a theme here? I am feeling the need to celebrate. Although Covid is still part of our lives, it appears to be a different aspect of life to that of the darkest days of a worldwide pandemic. I do reflect on those who, for whatever reason, still feel the same pressures. Whether due to being Clinically vulnerable, unable to be vaccinated or suffering with the mental strain of the last two years. I also think of all those who don’t live somewhere that has had the vaccination roll out we have been able to have.
My focus over the Easter season will be on sharing the Easter joy with as many people as possible. Whether we see it or not, the world is still full of beauty and joy and I encourage us all to look afresh around us in childlike wonder at the beauty everywhere.
Every Blessing
